Soho, London, United Kingdom
Making a subtle and yet still profound statement in the London steak scene is this charming basement restaurant that is a little bit different. Hidden in plain sight in the middle of London’s vibrant Soho district is the entrance to some of the finest meats around and a quaint dining experience that sets Blacklock apart from many others.
Since first opening there are several Blacklock’s across London now. My first discovery occurred on a Monday evening when we stumbled across a small chalk-written sign outside the front door. Stepping into that wonderful space we knew we had just discovered something very special.
Chops & Coals
Selling chops and fine quality steaks that are cooked to perfection over coals. Blacklock focusses on flavour and does so in a homely way that is quite unique.
Drinks
Old fashioned’s in crystal glasses just like the ones you may use at home. Negronis too. And a few other absolute delights.
Sunday Roast
Now we haven’t actually tried this ourselves (yet) and have it on good authority that these are amazing thanks to the slow roasting over coals from the previous evenings service. We will get back and try this for sure.
Atmosphere
Its a London restaurant for Londoners and our visitors. My last dining with a couple of friends from the USA struck the right chord for a bubbling, energetic restaurant where a conversation and gastronomic enjoyment could be had in bundles.
