The Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Dominating the spectacular skyline of Downtown Dubai is the famous Burj Khalifa. The worlds tallest building is a symbol recognised the world over and continually attracts millions of visitors to the United Arab Emirates each year.

Emaar the developer behind the Burj Khalifa really went for it and built a whole new district at the same time as this stunning tower. Downtown Dubai has become the defacto epicentre for affluent residents and visitors to Dubai who continue to flock to the Dubai Mall, nearby restaurants, and generally very pleasant way of life.

Situation just 20 minutes from DXB and 30 minutes from DWC, and with having a connection to the Metro which links into the mall through a long-air-conditioned walkway with speedy travelators, means that regardless of how you are travelling to Dubai the Burj Khalifa and Downtown are never far away. By car is easy with quick access to the main Sheikh Zayed Road and if you want something a little leisurely you can also take a boat along the Business Bay canals nearby which have stunning up close views of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown skyline.

Easily recognised the world over the Burj Khalifa has become a symbol for Dubai and is one of the very best examples of what can be achieved when there is a vision and willingness to make the imagined a reality.

It is incredibly tall

Standing at 828 metres tall this marvel of engineering remains the tallest building in the world for over a decade

Evening light show

Every 30 minutes the entire front side of the building is illuminated with different animations and light shows set to music. Thousands of tourists flock to see this spectacle which never ceases to amaze everyone. From the first time visitor to the long-term resident are always impressed by this free and incredible show.

The mall

The worlds tallest building is also situated right next to the worlds largest mall. Built by Emaar the developer behind many other locations in Dubai such as Arabian Ranches and Dubai Creek Harbour, they have done a splendid job of creating one of the worlds best shopping and entertainment locations all under one roof.

Fountain show

Alternating with the light show is the incredible display of dancing fountains. Set to different songs the powerful jets launch the water dozens of metres into the air and much like everything else around the Burj Khalifa is simply jaw dropping.

At the top

And naturally you can of course visit the top of the tower. The views are well worth the quick elevator ride up to the top where there are plenty of photo opportunities. And feeling very sturdy, even those with a fear of heights find it feels safe and comfortable.

Hotel and restaurants

Burj Khalifa is a city within a city and houses business and homes within the tower. There is also an Armani hotel and the worlds highest restaurant which is appropriately called ‘Atmosphere’ where the food and drink is just as stunning as the views out across Dubai.

New Years Eve

We highly recommend everyone to make the trip to try Dubai at New Years eve when the Burj comes alive with lasers, lights, fireworks, and an absolutely stunning display at midnight.
