At DRW we are dog lovers. Adore the wonderful companions that are as much family as any human. And we are really fond of other animals too. And to look after their supplies and care in North America is the wonderful business of Chewy which really does put the customer (your loved pet) right at the heart of what they do.

Chewy is truly remarkable and one of those companies that we’d love to see reach out to other countries. And we also think it would be great if companies in other sectors emulated the principles and lessons learned from the team at Chewy. While we don’t really write sad things on DRW we do need to share how this first came onto our radar. After a story was posted on LinkedIn by a grieving pet-parent who had lost their dog and had asked to return the food that had just been delivered. The Chewy team’s response showed genuine care that was clear in their email and also in the action they took. They refunded the money and said there was no food to return and that it could be donated to a local shelter or somewhere that needed it. And they went even further and sent the grieving owner flowers. While this is such a sad story to start with, the way they have responded and showed care that goes well above being a corporate to make profit. The business of Chewy is more than a pet store . . . it is a workplace and business community that is done really well!
