AlphaGo – Documentary

AlphaGo – Documentary

The classic and abstract board game known as “Go”  has a possible number of moves which are 2.1 x 10170 which basically is a larger number than the number of atoms in the observable universe. In the documentary ‘AlphaGo’ the AI (artificial intelligence) is trained to beat the worlds best human player.

If you want to watch something a little different that makes you think while being entertained, then this is an excellent choice. The unbiased approach of the film makers shows the determination of all involved, the comradery and how a technical documentary can also be a ‘feel good’ piece.

Challenging game

It is said that ‘Go’ is the most challenging classical game that artificial intelligence can play. Watching the team from DeepMind approach this challenge in the documentary shows how humans can tackle the limits of our very existence.

Interesting

This is one of the most fascinating documentaries around and is put together incredibly well in a very easy to watch and understandable format.

Humble

There is a real human element to this from both the player and AI creator team whom are both incredibly respectful to each other throughout. This is a challenge one where the competitors are friendly.

Who to support?

It is fun and quite unusual to decide who to back when watching this. Do you back the original human approach to playing, or that of the AI which was ultimately created by humans?
